Nagpur University is geared up to make a smashing impact at the Western Division Inter University Men’s Volleyball Tournament, set to kick off from December 14 to 18 in Nanded under the auspices of Swami Narayan Tirtha Marathwada University. The Sports Director of Nagpur University, Dr. Sharad Suryavanshi, proudly announced the formidable squad that emerged victorious in the recent inter-college volleyball tournament conducted by the university’s sports department.
The Nagpur University Volleyball Team boasts exceptional talent from various colleges, showcasing the prowess of the region. The stellar lineup includes players like Sahil Wabhitkar, Nikhil Bhasme, and Akshay Chaudhary from AD College, Bharsingi, Abhinandan Khamankar, and Sahil Gaukar from Barr. Wankhede College, Khaparkheda, and other skilled athletes like Om Bhosle, Sourav Sharma, Aman Chauhan, Darshan Kinnekar, Shubham Mulankar, Yash Kodmalwar, and Tushar Talangi.
Notably, Sahil Kumar, Sudhanshu Pandey, and Ajay Katre from AD College Bharsinghi, along with Rajesh Suresh and Rakesh Kumar from Saket Physical Education College, Gondia, and Atharva Umathe from NP Dev Dharampeth College, have been named as reserve players, ready to step in if needed. The squad also includes Tushar Danav from Haribhau Adamne College.
While the anticipation for university-level tournaments is high, more investment is needed in grassroots development to ensure a continuous pipeline of talent for these competitions.
