London Spirit Women won the title of ‘The Hundred Women’ competition. India’s Deepti Sharma played an important role in helping the team win the title. Deepti hit the winning six to give London Spirit their first trophy of ‘The Hundred Women’. The final match between the London Spirit Women and the Welsh Fire Women was very exciting. India’s all-rounder Deepti Sharma hit sixes to lead the London Spirit team to the title in ‘The Hundred’ women’s cricket tournament.
Chasing the target, London Spirit needed 4 runs off the last 3 balls to clinch the title. Till then the team had lost 6 wickets. Deepti Sharma, the star of the Indian cricket team, instead of taking singles, hit Hayley Mathews for a six and gave the team a win. The rest of the players of Deepti’s team were completely stunned after seeing Deepti’s six.
London Spirit wins with two balls to spare
Welsh Fire won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 115 for eight in the title match played at Lord’s (London). Jess Jonassen played the biggest innings for the team. She scored 54 runs off 41 balls with the help of 8 fours. Eva Gray and Sarah Glenn scored 2 each for London Spirit. Chasing the target of 116 runs, London Spirit registered a victory by scoring 118 for six in 98 balls.
Georgia Redmayne played the biggest innings for the team. She scored 34 runs off 32 balls with the help of 3 fours. Georgia Redmayne was also given the title of ‘Player of the Match’ for this brilliant innings. The bowling of the Welsh fire could not stop the London Spirit batters chasing the target. Shabnim Ismail took the top 3 wickets for Welsh Fire. Apart from this, the rest of the bowlers looked almost unsuccessful. Thus poor bowling cost the Welsh Fire the title match.
