BCCI rejects Bangladesh Cricket Board’s request to host T20 World Cup

Given the current situation in Bangladesh, the upcoming T20 Women’s World Cup cricket tournament has become uncertain. This competition can be held in India. But the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah has made it clear that India should host the World Cup but not us. BCCI has received a request to host the Women’s T20 World Cup cricket tournament in India.

However, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has rejected this demand. Bangladesh Cricket Board made this request to India. The ongoing protests in Bangladesh are raising questions about the hosting of the Women’s T20 World Cup. The situation is alarming and the International Cricket Council (ICC) is also closely monitoring the situation. If the situation does not improve soon, the ICC may take a major decision in the matter. The tournament will be played between October 3 and 20 on two grounds.

Turmoil in Bangladesh questions to host the Women’s T20 World Cup

Speaking to the Times of India, Jay Shah said that “the Bangladesh Cricket Board had asked if the BCCI could host the Women’s T20 World Cup. But I categorically refused. India will have monsoons at that time and next year we will have to host the Women’s T20 World Cup. We also want to host the Women’s ODI World Cup. I don’t want to spread the misconception that we want to hold World Cups continuously.”

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh men’s team’s practice was affected by the situation. Due to the ongoing agitation in the country, the Bangladesh team has left for Pakistan ahead of the scheduled date. There will be two Test matches between the two countries and the series will start from August 21. Initially, the Bangladesh team was supposed to go to Pakistan on August 17, but due to practice, opposition, and many other factors, the team reached Pakistan 5 days earlier.
