But Bhajan Kaur advanced victoriously while Ankita Bhakat lost in the archery competition. The 18-year-old Kaur shot well in the team event, despite losing. She overcame Indonesia’s Syifa Nurafifah Kamal and Poland’s Wioleta Myszor in her first two rounds.
Bhajan Kaur, ranked 45th in the world, advanced to the next round with scores of 28, 29, and 28 in three sets. Myszor struggled to find her feet in the match, with scores of 23, 26, and 22 with only one shot inside the inner-10 circle. Despite Kaur’s win, there were some signs of gloom in the Indian archery camp. Ankita Bhakat got a big shock in the archery competition. She lost the fifth set of the match by a narrow margin of 27-28.
Poland’s Violetta Myzor defeated Ankita 6-4 to advance. After losing the first set (0-2) in this tournament, Ankita tied the match 2-2 in the second set. The thrill of the match was maintained by winning the third set 4-2. Ankita tied the score at 4-4 in the fourth set. Ankita lost the match by a narrow margin 4-6.
