Top 3 oldest female athletes in Paris Olympics 2024

The Paris Olympics 2024 has already made its way. It is the day 5 of the multinational event. The countries have started securing their medals in the ongoing multinational event. Over the years the event has seen some of the greatest athletes perform on the biggest stage. Some have also failed to live up to the expectations of the event. 

There were several superstars present at the opening ceremony. American pop superstar Lady Gaga, performed at the event. France’s World Cup winner Zinedine Zidane in the final torch relay late in the ceremony handed off the torch to Rafael Nadal. Nadal handed the torch to former tennis player Serena Williams. Despite getting some criticism the event has been successful so far in France.  

Age is just a number and it has once again been proved in the ongoing event. Some athletes are past 50 and are nearing the 60s. Also, some have been in their teens and just turned an adult in the ongoing major event. We will take a look at some of the oldest female athletes taking part in the ongoing Olympics.

3. Laura Kraut 

Laura Kraut is one of the most experienced athletes in the Olympics. The 58-year-old has two Olympic medals already under her belt. The equestrian won a silver medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020 and a gold medal at Beijing 2008, representing Team USA in the equestrian jumping competitions. She defines that age as just a number for her. 

2. Jill Irving 

Jill Irving is also an experienced athlete. She represents Team Canada in Dressage. She is the reigning Pan American Games team dressage champion, having won gold in Lima in 2019. The equestrian is 61-year-old and she defies age and continues to perform at the biggest level in the world. 

1. Mary Hanna

Mary Hanna is making Olympic history as the competition’s oldest athlete at 69 years old. This will also be her seventh Olympic Games appearance. Her first came in 1996. She has represented Australia at six Olympic Games in the equestrian discipline of dressage (Atlanta 1996 with Mosaic, Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 with Limbo, London 2012 with Sancette, Rio 2016 with Boogie Woogie, and Tokyo 2020 with Calanta).
