Hockey Maharashtra maintained their winning momentum by clinching victories in both their matches against Hockey Rajasthan on the opening day of the 2nd Hockey India Sub Junior Men and Women West Zone Championship 2024. The event took place on Tuesday in Surat, Gujarat.

In the men’s opener, Maharashtra triumphed over Rajasthan with a score of 3-1. Dnyaneshkumar Vijkape, who was named Man of the Match, played a pivotal role by scoring two crucial goals that kept Maharashtra in the lead. Despite an early equalizer from Amit Singh of Rajasthan, Maharashtra secured their win with a final goal from Sachin Thakur in the last minute of the match.

The women’s team of Maharashtra also showcased a strong performance, defeating Rajasthan 4-2. The match saw a significant contribution from Anvi Rawat and Yashasvi Kubde, each scoring two goals to ensure Maharashtra’s victory. Anvi Rawat’s goal came from a penalty stroke, further solidifying their lead.
