In the second Fischer Random Rapid Chess Tournament organized by the Chess Sports Trust and sanctioned by the Pune District Chess Circle (PDCC), Viresh S. emerged as the champion.
The tournament, held at the Symbiosis Sports Center on Prabhat Road, saw Viresh secure his victory in the seventh round by defeating Varad Valde, earning 6.5 points. Viresh, a 7th-grade student at City International School, demonstrated exceptional skill throughout the competition.
Mihir Sarvade claimed second place after a decisive win against Ishan Varoodkar in the second round, finishing with 6 points. Varad Valde, despite his loss to Viresh, secured the third position with a total of 5.5 points.
The winners were awarded trophies and cash prizes. The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Ravindra Akolkar and Prakash Kunte, Trustees of the Chess Sports Trust. Chief Arbiter Nitin Shenvi, Deputy Chief Arbiter Vinita Shotri, and other notable dignitaries were also present to honour the participants.
