BCCI provides financial boost to IOA ahead of Paris Olympics

The Paris Olympics 2024 is just a few days away. India will be sending their 117 athletes for the forthcoming multinational event in France. However, ahead of that the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has got a financial boost. They will be provided Rs. 8.5 crore by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Previously BCCI announced Rs 125 crores for the T20 World Champion team.

This will be the largest set ever sent by the Indian contingent. The Indian team for the Paris Olympics consists of 70 men and 47 women. Javelin star Neeraj Chopra, badminton star PV Sindhu, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy Chirag Shetty, and weightlifter Meerabai Chanu are strong contenders for the medal. The nation won 7 medals last time around. This time they believe they can win more and bring the number to double digits. 

BCCI Secretary Jai Shah announced Rs 8.5 crore for the Indian athletes participating in the Paris Olympics and wished the entire team well. Not only the richest board, but the central government has also increased the budget. It is reported that the central government has spent about Rs.470 crores. The decision has been made to increase India’s medal tally in the multinational event.

Every Indian athlete is expected to perform well in the Paris Olympics. Initially, the Indian players aimed to establish a strong grip on the tournament. Gagan Narang and PV Sindhu have been entrusted with the important responsibility. The former will be the ‘Chef-de-Mission’ and the shuttler will be the female flag bearer for the country.
