Top 10 Countries With the Best Uniforms at the 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony

We are less than 4 days away from the start of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Excitement and nervousness coupled with the frenzy one feels before the start of the Olympics is evident in the air. Athletes from 206 countries gear up to represent their nation on the biggest stage of them all which will kick off with an opening ceremony on the 26th of July. The opening ceremony will be a spectacle to behold with athletes walking out in custom outfits, so let’s take a look at the top ten Uniforms that we will soon be seeing in the Summer Games.

10. Team Spain

Joma, a Spanish sportswear brand, designed Team Spain’s uniforms for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Inspired by the carnation flower, a symbol of Spanish culture, the collection blends tradition with modernity. The uniforms showcase the red and yellow colours of the Spanish flag, featured prominently in the ceremony attire.

9. Team USA

Ralph Lauren designed the uniforms for the USA Olympic and Paralympic athletes for the ninth time. These will be worn by flag bearers at the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony. The outfits include a classic navy wool blazer with red and white accents, a striped oxford shirt, a navy knit tie, tapered light denim jeans, and suede shoes.

Berluti designed Team France’s uniforms for the 2024 Paris Olympics, featuring tuxedo-inspired outfits for both male and female athletes. Men will wear midnight-blue tuxedo jackets with patina-effect shawl collars in French flag colours, matching trousers, and Berluti’s Shadow trainers. Women can choose a sleeveless tuxedo jacket with trousers or a silk wrap-around skirt. Made from a blend of cold wool and lycra, these uniforms are wrinkle-free and comfortable for the ceremony.

Team Jamaica consistently impresses on the track at the Summer Olympics, and this year is no different. PUMA collaborated with the athletes to create stylish kits showcasing Jamaica’s colours. Maria Valdez, PUMA’s Chief Product Officer said, “They are a statement of the collective ambition shared between PUMA and Jamaica. They are a symbol of pride for the PUMA family, and we hope that they become a symbol of pride for Jamaicans”

6. Team Czech Republic

The Czech team’s uniforms, designed by Alpine Pro, make a bold statement. Though the trench coat may resemble a paint-stained smock, its flattering fit ensures the outfit is anything but boring. The inner uniform features a conventional sports T-shirt and casual trousers, with a triangular pattern on the shirt’s back reflecting the Czech flag’s colours: red, blue, and white.

Local designer Francis Libiran has celebrated Filipino artistry by transforming the country’s flag into a distinctive piece for athletes at the opening ceremony. He adapted the sinag barong, a formal shirt, with a triangular blue and red design reflecting the Philippine flag, and added Pintados-inspired warrior patterns and sun rays embroidered on the collar.

Justin Chou, a Taiwanese designer of Just In XX, who previously designed the team uniforms for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, has returned with a culturally inspired look for this year’s opening ceremony. The grey suit features sustainably sourced fabrics and includes contributions from artists such as Paul Chiang, Indigenous artisan Aing Banday, and floral craftsman Peggy Lin.

Team Canada will maintain both comfort and style in their maple-red athleisure gear from Lululemon, a leading Canadian activewear brand. The jacquard bomber jackets and shorts are crafted from moisture-wicking fabrics and adorned with prints that highlight Canadian art, nature, and architecture, including beavers and moose.

Stella Jean designed Team Haiti’s uniforms for the Paris 2024 Olympics, incorporating artwork by Haitian painter Philippe Dodard, specifically his piece “Passage.” The 15-athlete team will debut these uniforms at the opening ceremony on July 26.

The women’s uniform features a full skirt adorned with Dodard’s artwork, a chambray shirt made from traditional Haitian “blue cotton,” and a sleeveless blazer from recycled fabric with the Haitian Olympic emblem. For the men, the uniform includes pants with Dodard’s painting motif, a field jacket inspired by the traditional Guayabera shirt, a striped shirt, and a printed scarf.

The intricate uniforms, designed by Mongolian couture brand Michel & Amazonka, led by sisters Michel, Amazonka, and Munkhjargal Choigaalaa, took about 20 hours each to make, as reported by the Mongolian National Olympic Committee. Mongolia’s opening ceremony uniform showcases a striking combination of tradition and modernity, making it one of the most impressive in Olympic history. The uniform features the traditional deel tunic, enhanced with intricate gold embroidery on the bodice, cuffs, and collar.
