Gunwant Kasar won the title and Tasin Tadvi won the runner-up title in the open chess selection trial. It was organized by the Jalgaon District Chess Association and Jain Sports Academy. Around 120 players participated in this tournament.
The tournament selected the top four players, who will represent the Jalgaon District Chess Team at the state tournament scheduled from the 25th to the 28th of July. The selected players from the tough competition include Gunwant Kasar, Tasin Tadvi, Prashant Kasar, and Ajay Pardeshi.
Maharashtra will have four people in national tournament
The competition was held at the Kantai Auditorium near the new bus stand. FIDE arbiter Abhishek Jadhav, senior arbiter Paresh Deshpande, national arbiter Nathu Somvanshi, and FIDE arbiter Akash Dhangar worked as referees under the guidance of international referee Praveen Thackeray. Shakeel Deshpande, Ravi Dashputre, and Tejas Taide boosted the enthusiasm of the players.
Nandlal Gadia, Arvind Deshpande, and Ravi Dharmadhikari presented prizes to the winners. Chandrasekhar Deshmukh moderated the event. Besides the selected players, other participants will receive invitations to the state tournament. From Maharashtra, four players will be chosen from the state tournament to compete in the national tournament in Haryana.
