In a riveting clash at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra, the Community Football Club of India (CFCI) showcased resilience, securing a 2-1 victory over Kenkre FC in the Mumbai Football League 2023-2024 Premier Division. The spotlight of the match belonged to the ‘super’ sub Varad Ayare, who scored two pivotal goals in the second half.
Kenkre FC, against the flow of the game, took the lead with a well-executed goal by Striker Umang Surti in the 40th minute, giving them a slender halftime advantage.
Undeterred, CFCI launched a spirited comeback in the second half, with substitute Varad Ayare making an immediate impact. Ayare, who came on for Rohit Mirza at halftime, scored the equalizer in the third minute after the break, setting the stage for a thrilling contest.
Persisting in their quest for goals, CFCI’s efforts bore fruit in the 85th minute when Ayare struck again, securing a well-deserved victory for his team.
In another Premier Division showdown, Indian Cultural League (ICL) claimed a fluent 4-2 triumph against PIFA Sports Colaba FC. Sahil Meshram’s brace was instrumental in ICL’s victory, with additional goals from Laxman Singh and Christopher Rajkumar. PIFA Sports Colaba FC managed to score both their goals deep into stoppage time through Akash Pardeshi and Onkar Mishra.
