Brij Bhushan Singh Once Again In Headlines For All The Wrong Reasons

Brij Bhushan Singh was accused of sexual assault by a group of Indian wrestlers in January last year. Despite their protests, the BJP MP is still not behind bars and is still enjoying a life without repercussions. A year later, Brij Bhushan Singh still holds a firm hold in UP Politics and this was proven when BJP announced their candidate list for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The six-time MP was denied a ticket in the Kaiserganj constituency, but knowing his influence, the party decided to give his son Karan Bhushan Singh the Kaiserganj seat. Brij Bhushan Singh has a lot of organisations in Uttar Pradesh, which makes him indispensable. However, with the sexual assault allegations levied upon him, the party had to make a decision, but it proved to cause a stir across the country as it was not welcomed by everyone.

Former Indian wrestler Sakshi Malik, who was at the forefront of the wrestler’s protest, wrote a lengthy post on X, where she expressed her thoughts on Karan Bhushan Singh being given a seat. She said, “Daughters of the country have lost, Brij Bhushan won. We all put our careers on the line, we slept on streets in the rain and heat. Brij Bhushan hasn’t been arrested till today. We are not asking for anything but justice. Leave aside arrest, by giving an election ticket to his son, they have shattered the aspirations of the country’s millions of daughters. Is the country’s government so powerless in front of one man that the ticket had to be given to only one family? “

Brij Bhushan Singh has a criminal past

Brij Bhushan Singh has been at the heart of UP Politics for over two decades now. He first came into power as the MP in 1991 from the Gonda constituency. Over the course of his career, he has been elected as an MP six times. He has a load of criminal cases against him, including the 1992 Babri Masjid Demolition Case.

The sexual assault case against Brij Bhushan Singh led to a protest by wrestlers for over a month. He was the President of the Wrestling Federation of India for over 10 years and it was during this time that he allegedly sexually assaulted girls, including a minor. He has also been caught on camera raising his hands on wrestlers and getting violent with the media during interviews. Despite all of these allegations and past evidence of violence, Brij Bhushan Singh continues to walk around freely with a lot of power in his hands.
