Kylian Mbappe is the best player in the world. He has been brilliant this season for PSG. The Frenchman has been particularly good in the Champions League. As of now, he’s the top scorer. He’s led PSG past two Real Sociedad and Barcelona. German Giants, Borussia Dortmund are the only thing standing between the 24-year-old and another Champions League Final. Kylian Mbappe has the opportunity to do a madness. If he steps up and finally delivers for The Parisians in the semi-final, he has his greatest threat standing before him. Either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich awaits him in the final.
Playoff Heartache
The French superstar has been one of the best players in the Champions League over the past few years. He has consistently delivered for his team. Despite his efforts, his teammates (A South American duo, in particular) have let him down every time. After reaching the final in 2020, PSG was comprehensively beaten by Bayern Munich, and Kylian’s dream of being the European Champion was dashed. PSG has a history of choking in the Champions League and this narrative has persevered, although they’ve formed a superteam in the city of love.
Champions League Chokers
After last season’s disappointment which saw the Parisians humbled again by the Bavarians. They were comprehensively beaten over two legs with Mbappe disappearing. PSG have disappointed their fans every time despite their huge investment. The summer of 2021 saw them bring in Achraf Hakimi, Gianluigi Donnaruma, Gini Wijnaldum, and even the great Lionel Messi. Despite this spectacular transfer window and the existing team consisting of Neymar, Mbappe, and Marquinhos, PSG was run ragged by Real Madrid. They’ve established themselves as perennial chokers.
Quest For The Quadruple
Despite all the heartache they’ve been through, PSG and Mbappe may have a serious shot at the title this year. They’ve already beaten Barcelona. Their team is well and truly clicking under Luis Enrique and Ousmane Dembele is in terrific form. Furthermore, they’ve got the easy end of the bracket. They’re going to face a BVB team that isn’t even in the top 4 of the Bundesliga. They’ve already clinched the Ligue 1 title and Trophee des Champions. If they win the Coupe de France and the UCL, this may be a historic, quadruple-winning season for Les Rouge et Bleu.
Mbappe vs Madrid
If Paris manages to beat Dortmund, the most gripping narrative will be to see Kylian Mbappe face off against his future club, Real Madrid. Both teams are favorites in their respective match-ups. If the ”ninja-turtle” faces off against Los Blancos in the final, he will be desperate to deliver a title for his current club. The Frenchman has won everything there is to win, other than a European title. If he wins the Champions League, he will be the Ballon d’Or winner without a doubt. But will the Frenchmen’s dream fall flat or will we finally see him lift club football’s greatest prize?
