The Class of 2024 is set to transform the WNBA

The WNBA Draft is set to take place on April 15th at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York. With the likes of Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese and Aaliyah Edwards set to make their way into the league, it is clear that the WNBA is set for an exciting few decades. Although the number one pick seems to be a lock with the Indiana Fever picking Caitlin Clark from IOWA, there are other picks to watch out for.

The former Hawkeye put the world on notice with her performances in college. In her senior year, she led the NCAA College Women’s Basketball with 31.6 PPG and 8.9 APG. Her ability to shoot threes helped her get a lot of praise from NBA players and fans across the world. With her on the court, the NCAA was able to break a lot of their viewing records.

Another trailblazer in the Class of 2024 is Angel Reese. The former LSU player won a National Championship in 2023 and helped the Tigers to a Final Four appearance in the 2023-24 season. Her dynamic personality has certainly transformed the women’s college basketball scene.

The WNBA is set to experience a huge boost in viewership soon

The WNBA is home to the likes of A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum, Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart. It has already seen a lot of growth in the last few years, with newer teams coming in. The Class of 2024 is expected to only further elevate the league on and off the court. One example of that was the NCAA Women’s Championship game which amassed 19 million views, which was four million more than the Men’s National Championship game.

None of this would have been possible if not for the hard work put in by these young women. Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are certainly faces of the women’s college basketball movement, but there are other talented hoopers like Kamilia Cardoso and Cameron Brink, who are also immensely talented.

The tickets for the next season are already selling out. Last season it was Sabrina Ionescu vs Steph Curry in a three-point competition during the NBA All-Star weekend. However, with the array of stars coming in from college, the All-Star weekend could be made even more exciting and incorporate a lot more hoopers from the WNBA.
