Manchester United’s season is in jeopardy. Their loss to Chelsea has killed their challenge for European football. The Red Devils are in trouble and Erik Ten Hag’s job is at risk. United played well for 90 minutes of the game, but all their problems were revealed and exploited in added time. Cole Palmer laid United bare in the 101st minute of the game as Chelsea secured a famous win at Stamford Bridge. This shocking defeat begs the question, is this the end of the road for Manchester United? Is this season a failure?
A Perplexing Situation
United’s season has been confusing. They’ve been very good in some games and been dreadful in the rest. At this point, they’re just a social experiment to see how much disappointment an individual can take. Back in the day, fans were used to Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney running the show and lifting title after title. Now they watch Antony and Anthony Martial trying kick-ups during games. It’s been 11 years since United won their last title and almost 2 years since Erik Ten Hag took charge and United still doesn’t have an identity. They’ve gone from contenders to pretenders for every title. With the new management, a new era beckons, Manchester United’s premier European aspirations for this season may be dashed, but next season has to be better.
Consistent Inconsistency
Erik Ten Hag’s men have matched the record for most losses in a season. They were bamboozled by Brentford and Battered by Chelsea. Their season has been a series of highs and lows. As the end of the season approaches, they must find some consistency. With Only 8 games left in the Premier League. Manchester United must try to win all of them to finish in a European spot. Two of those games are against title contenders Liverpool and Arsenal. Denying Liverpool the title would be a mouth-watering idea for fans from the Stretford end and that is exactly what the record champions must do this Sunday. To save their season, they must beat Liverpool.
Wembley beckons
The Red Devils must treat every game as a must-win from now on. They are still alive in the Fa Cup and face second-division side Coventry in the semi-final. They must salvage some silverware this season. The domestic cup is of utmost importance and United must set their sights on Wembley. Their season has been an inconsistent mess till now, but now they must find a rhythm and try to win every game. They must settle on their unique style of play and put in a shift.
Trust Ten Hag
United have to come back from this downfall. The Stretford End deserves another Championship Trophy. The new management must have faith in Erik Ten Hag and be patient. Manchester United cannot jump from manager to manager and hope for someone to turn their fortunes overnight, they must give time to The Dutch Manager like Arsenal gave time to Mikel Arteta. He has shown his tactical acumen over these past two seasons and with time, he will deliver. United fans must have faith in their manager and pray for red to adorn the ears of the Premier League Trophy.
