National Squash Champ Anahat Singh to Dazzle at CCI-Western India Slam Squash Championship 2023

The spotlight is set on fifteen-year-old Anahat Singh, the recent women’s champion at the National Squash Championship in Chennai, as she emerges as the star attraction for the CCI-Western India Slam Squash Championship 2023. Hosted by the Cricket Club of India (CCI) in collaboration with the Squash Rackets Federation of India (SRFI), the prestigious 78th edition kicks off at the CCI squash courts on Monday, December 4, 2023.

Anahat, a rising talent in squash, has not only secured her spot in the women’s category but is also set to dazzle in the under-19 events, adding excitement to the competition. The women’s field sees formidable contenders such as left-handed Janet Vidhi, Ananya Pandey, and Nirupama Dubey.

In the men’s draw, the stage is set for an intense battle featuring leading Indian stars like Suraj Chand, Veer Chotrani, Rahul Baitha, and Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu.

With approximately 500 players from 16 states confirming their entries, the championship promises fierce competition across 16 events. The age categories include under-11, under-13, under-15, under-17, and under-19 for both men and women. Additionally, competitions are lined up for men in the 35+, 45+, and 55+ age groups, as well as a Pro-Coach category. To nurture budding talent, organizers have introduced a mixed under-9 event.

Darius Pandole, serving as the Championship Chairman/Director, and Ashraf Hussain, the SRFI Championship Administrator, ensure the smooth execution of this prestigious tournament, aiming to celebrate excellence and foster the growth of squash talent in India. The CCI-Western India Slam Squash Championship 2023 is poised to be a thrilling showcase of skill, determination, and sportsmanship.
