International Open Karate Competition: Team India Secures 24 Medals

The Indian karate team won 24 medals in the first international open karate competition held in UAE. The Indian team won four gold, six silver and fourteen bronze medals in the tournament.

The tournament was organized by the UAE Karate Federation at Zahid Sports Complex, Fujairah. More than 800 karate players from 42 countries participated in this tournament. The Indian karate team won a total of 24 medals, participating in the competition under the guidance of the Karate India Organization, the national body of karate sport recognized by the World Karate Federation of India.

In this competition, Indian karate players achieved great success in Kumite and kata. Deepika Dhiman (Delhi), Sunil Singh (Uttarakhand), Arham Khan (Uttar Pradesh), and Dev Kishan (Tamil Nadu) won gold medals in their respective age groups.

Sneha Banerjee (Chhattisgarh), Mayank (Delhi), Dhanusha Pratap (Tamil Nadu), Ashvi Mohta (Maharashtra), Viraj Katian (Delhi) won silver medals in their respective categories.

Indian karatekas won a total of 14 bronze medals. Among them are Chaitanya Seth (Maharashtra), Pranay Sharma (Delhi), Sakhi Vijay (Uttar Pradesh), Deep Vashishtha (Haryana), Ritika (Delhi), Harshit Sharma (Delhi), Amitabh Baghel (Madhya Pradesh), Meenakshi Kashyap (Madhya Pradesh). Toshi Sharma (Delhi), Manisha (Delhi), Sanvi Memon (Haryana), Vrinda Memon (Haryana), Ashvi Mohta (Maharashtra), Emmanuel Philip (Maharashtra) are included.

Maharashtra athletes have won four medals namely one silver and three bronze in this competition. Sandeep Gade played his role perfectly as a coach with the Indian team for this tournament. Sandeep Gade has congratulated all the medal winners.
