Celebrating its 75th anniversary, Savitribai Phule Pune University is set to honor chess grandmaster Abhimanyu Puranik with the esteemed Youth Award in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the world of chess.
Abhimanyu Puranik’s journey to becoming a chess grandmaster is nothing short of remarkable. Achieving the title of International Master in 2015 marked the beginning of his illustrious career. Two years later, he ascended to the prestigious rank of Grandmaster, solidifying his status as one of the world’s top chess players.
His accolades include winning the World Youth Candidate title and receiving the esteemed Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Award from the state government.
With a passion for chess that has taken him to tournaments in 35 countries, Abhimanyu Puranik has consistently excelled on both national and international stages. Under the guidance of his mentor, coach Jayant Gokhale, Abhimanyu has honed his skills and showcased his talent to the world.
The presentation of the Yuva Gaurav Award to Abhimanyu Puranik will take place during a grand ceremony at Savitribai Phule Pune University, where distinguished guests will recognize his remarkable achievements and contributions to the sport of chess.
