5 major controversies that hit Paris Olympics 2024

Paris Olympics 2024 has concluded a few days back. The multinational event was successfully held in the capital city of France. Some notable stars were present in the opening and closing ceremonies of the event. Hollywood star Tom Cruise which was noticeable in the closing ceremony. Former World Cup winner Zinedine Zidane along with Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams was present in the opening part of the event. 

Hundreds of medals won and a lifetime of glory ahead for winning competitors. No event involving controversy can end or run smoothly. It’s no small effort to feature 329 medal events over 32 different sports, about 10,000 participants, and possibly more while inviting millions of visitors. Amidst all these, there have been some controversies that have struck the major event in Paris.

5. Tom Craig cocaine incident 

Australian Hockey team player Tom Craig was taken into custody in Paris after trying to buy cocaine. The buyer was a 28-year-old member of the Australian field hockey team. The 17-year-old alleged seller was also taken into custody. Craig was escorted away by an Australian Olympic Committee official without taking questions. Then was removed from the team as well. 

4. Luana Alonso expelled 

Luana Alonso was expelled from the Olympics for one of the weirdest reasons. She was sent back home after she failed to qualify for the finals. Luana’s presence was having an undesirable effect on the entire Paraguay contingent. However, it was declared that she was sent back for breaking curfew and attending a party. 

3. Anthony Ammirati porn clip 

Anthony Ammirati impressed everyone in his debut Olympics. He made a name for himself. However, there was a sudden turnaround for the 21-year-old athlete. He became viral after an accidental crossbar crotch clip cost him a podium spot. 

The website claims it received a copy of the offer letter from a live-streaming webcam pornographic site.

2. Imane Khelif gender transformation 

Imane Khelif failed the gender eligibility criteria of the International Boxing Association (IBA). The boxer was allowed to participate in the Olympics irrespective of failing the test. There was a controversy that happened as there was no clear indication of being identified as transgender. The boxer won the gold medal in the major event. 

1. Vinesh Phogat overweight conspiracy

Vinesh Phogat was excellent in the Paris Olympics 2024. She shocked everyone by qualifying for the final. However, right ahead of the final match, she was found overweight 24 hours before the game. She was initially found 2kg overweighed but she managed to bring it down to 100gm. But the IOC did not allow her to play in the final and she was disqualified.
